Do you need a spanner to tighten your student’s writing? A drill to drive depth into their critical analysis? Or pliers to extract an unreliable source from an argument?
Extensively refreshed to support MQ2020, the StudyWISE iLearn unit is a toolbox to help students develop research skills, academic writing skills and more. Students can find strategies and tools they can apply to solve point-of-need questions, that allow them to take an active part in managing their learning.
Do your students need to:
- cite more scholarly sources of evidence?
Guides to searching, evaluating and referencing sources equip students with know-how in searching and evaluating scholarly and peer-reviewed sources, grey literature and non-scholarly resources.
- better analyse and respond to assessment tasks?
Examples of actual Macquarie student assessments will help your students better understand assessment requirements and the assignment writing process. Resources for MQ2020 assessment types and digital tools are being progressively released.
- write more academically with evidence of critical thinking?
Resources will help students argue persuasively, think and write critically and express themselves academically.
- become more conversant with our academic culture?
Find useful and relevant advice on academic integrity, learning at university, working in groups, and communicating with teaching staff.
Managed by Learning Advisers and Research Librarians, with contributions from MQ students, StudyWISE now integrates content from InfoWISE (the Library’s archived iLearn resource) to provide advice and skills development across the entire assignment process. Videos, visuals and page design provide options that encourage engagement and activity. All students are automatically enrolled or can self-enrol here.
